New Online Gallery: Suspended
This body of work was created for the Silver Eye Center for Photography's 2009 Fellowship Competition. I'm not sure when the need to photograph fire escapes occurred, or what prompted it, but from this process emerged an expression of the action of being suspended. Maybe it is an attempt to capture the potential for motion, or how we hang on to our points of support; as shadows do. Or perhaps it expresses how we cease to function in certain ways when parts or textures of ourselves lose their purpose, and all that remains is their potential to be called upon in the future. Or maybe I just wanted to show the beauty of theses structures. I'll let you decide!
